Biography

Prof. Christophe Peyrefitte is currently Director of the Institut Pasteur de Guyane, having previously served as Scientific Director of the Institut Pasteur de Dakar for 3 years and Director of the virology unit at the Institut de Recherche Biomédicale des Armées for almost 10 years.

His scientific work has been carried out within the National Reference Centers for Arboviruses, Orthopoxviruses, and hemorrhagic fever viruses.

Prof. Peyrefitte, an expert in virology and epidemic infectious diseases, contributes to strengthening international scientific cooperation through the management of and participation in cross-disciplinary research programs targeting emerging viral epidemics and contributing to the prevention and management of crises due to emerging infectious diseases.

He has contributed to developing links between research and academia by developing specialized university courses in fundamental and medical virology.

He was involved in the COVID-19 pandemic management through the organization of international training courses for biologists from African reference institutes, the organization of the distribution of several million diagnostic kits, the design and implementation of external quality controĺ, and the setting up of a rapid diagnostic kit production program.
