Biography
Dr. Daniel Mukadi is the Director of BSL-3/BSL-2 Rodolphe Mérieux INRB-Goma (North-Kivu Province, DRC). He is a medical doctor, Virology specialist, and PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
He has great and extensive experience in the deployment and coordination of field laboratories for Ebola and other emerging pathogens outbreaks. He also has experience and expertise in diagnostic tools for emerging encompassing Molecular Biology, Genomic sequencing, Serology, Bacteriology, Immunology, and clinical biology. He has participated in many studies including clinical trials on Ebola and Monkeypox therapeutics and vaccines, and research on the reservoir of emerging pathogens.
Over the last seven years, Dr. Mukadi was involved in the response to eight DRC EVD outbreaks and coordinated the last six. He has also implemented and coordinated COVID-19 and Monkeypox laboratory responses in eastern DRC provinces. His publications cover a variety of topics including Ebola, Monkeypox, SARS-CoV-2, and genomic sequencing. Currently, Dr. Daniel Mukadi is a Member of the Steering Committee for Country Readiness Strengthening and a Member of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on In-vitro Diagnostics (SAGE IVD) at WHO. He serves as Laboratory Coordinator for the NIH/NIAID studies in DRC. Dr. Daniel Mukadi is a Lecturer of virology, bacteriology, molecular biology, laboratory techniques, and management at different universities in DRC.
