Biography

Danjuma is a Nigerian prince and a global health leader, patient advocate and public health practitioner with a multidisciplinary background in diagnostics, virology and public health. He is the Executive Director and CEO of the Centre for Initiative and Development (CFID), Nigeria. 

His leadership is shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience. Having lived with chronic hepatitis B for more than 2 decades, Danjuma has become a strong advocate for equitable access to prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and for the meaningful participation of affected communities in health policy and decision-making. 

He is a former President of the World Hepatitis Alliance and has contributed to numerous national, African and global technical and advisory initiatives on viral hepatitis, universal health coverage, access to medicines and community engagement. He is a Technical Advisory Board member of the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE): Advisory Group member CSEM UHC2030; Alternate Member UHC2030 Task Force for 2027 UHC HLM; Board Member Society on Liver Disease in Africa (SOLDA); Member National Viral Hepatitis Technical Working Group (TWG)-Nigeria; Chair African Hepatitis Action Group; Chair African Hepatitis Summit (AHS). He is a Senior Fellow with New Voices, of the Aspen Innovators Group. 

Through CFID, he has led programmes spanning viral hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, maternal and child health, vaccine-preventable diseases and other public health priorities. 

Danjuma is also actively engaged in research and implementation science, particularly around hepatitis B, liver disease and liver cancer in Africa. He is passionate about people-centred health systems, African-led research, leadership development and ensuring that global health commitments translate into measurable improvements in the lives of underserved communities.
