Ms Deborah von Zinkernagel
Biography
Deborah von Zinkernagel is the Co-Director of STRIPE (Strengthening Interprofessional Education) for HIV, and a Senior Advisor in the Center for Global Health Diplomacy, Delivery & Economics at the University of California San Francisco.
Ms Von Zinkernagel has over 25 years of experience in global health focused on HIV clinical care, programme and policy. Her current work has focused on preparing the next generation of health professionals to deliver high quality, team-based care and supporting new professionals transitioning into practice. Prior to this she served as the Principal Deputy Global AIDS Coordinator for PEPFAR 2010-2014, then leading UNAIDS work on PMTCT and pediatric care, and directing teams for gender, human rights and civil society engagement (2014-2019). Previous work in the non-profit sector included supporting the development of national strategic plans for HIV and providing clinical support and training strengthening local capacities for HIV care and treatment.
Ms von Zinkernagel has a Masters Degree in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health, a Masters in Community Health, fellowships in epidemiology and clinical research, and is a clinical nurse specialist. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and member of Sigma Theta Tau.
