Sagnik Dey

Biography

Dr Sagnik Dey is Institute Chair professor at the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, coordinator of the Centre of Excellence for Research on Clean Air (CERCA), and an associate faculty of School of Public Policy at IIT Delhi, India. His research interest is to understand the interlinkages of air pollution and climate change and how it impacts human health. Dr Dey has been involved in several national (e.g., National Carbonaceous Aerosol Program, National Clean Air Mission, National Climate Mission etc.) and international (e.g., NASA’s MAIA mission, Indo-UK, Indo-Poland bilateral program) projects. He is a consultant of the World Bank on air quality management and is working with several UN bodies (UNEP, UNDP) on various issues of air pollution. He is a member of the WHO Southeast Asia RTAG on non-communicable diseases. He is a collaborator of the Global Burden of Disease Study. He was awarded INSA Young Scientist Medal in 2008, NASI-SCOPUS Young Scientist Award in 2012, Institute Teaching Excellence Award in 2016 and Fulbright-Nehru Professional and Academic Exellence Award in 2017-18. He is serving as Associate Editor in Atmospheric Environment, and Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports (Nature) and Earth System Dynamics. Dr Dey has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading.
