Biography

Dr Donald Ibe Ofili is a Medical Laboratory Scientist with over 25 years relevant operational and strategic level experience in disease control efforts and Laboratory strengthening. He holds a PhD in Haematology from Igbinedion University, Okada, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (FMLSCN), Fellow, West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science,(FWAPCMLS). He is currently the Director and Deputy Registrar, MLSCN Accreditation Service, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. He is a WHO AFRO Certified Strengthening Laboratory Management Towards Accreditation (SLMTA) Trainer, Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Certified Laboratory Quality Assessor, African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) Certified SLIPTA Auditor, ISO 15189 Lead Accreditation Assessor, ISO 17025 Accreditation Assessor, and IFBA Certified Biorisk Management Professional.

He is also a Member of the Nigeria National Laboratory Technical Working Group (NLTWG), Chair, NLTWG Committee on Laboratory Quality Management System, Biosafety/Biosecurity and Laboratory Information Management. Chair, Nigeria National Technical Committee on Standards for Medical and Medical Related Services with secretariat at Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), member ISO/TC 212 Clinical Laboratory Testing and In-vitro Diagnostic Test Systems and member ISO/TC 212 WG1 - WG5. Contributing Author, Nigeria National Essential Diagnostics List (NNEDL).

He has attended several capacity building workshops which includes the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) workshop on ISO/IEC FDIS 17011:2017 - Conformity Assessment-Requirements for Accreditation Bodies Accrediting Conformity Assessment- Bodies between 23rd - 24th September, 2017 in Cairo, Egypt. He was the General Secretary, Local Organising Committee, 4th ASLM International Conference, 10th - 13th December, 2018 in Abuja, Nigeria. He is the Chair of the West Africa Regional Technical Working Group on Biosafety and Biosecurity.
