Dr Adel Alshehri

Dr. Adel Alshehri has over a decade of experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics. He is the Decision Intelligence Group Leader at the Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Institute of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this role, he plays a key part in developing AI strategies for the organization.

Additionally, Dr. Alshehri has held significant positions, such as a Consultant for the Crime Research Center under the Ministry of Interior, Saudi Arabia. With a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of South Florida, an MS in Computer Information Science and Engineering from the University of Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from King Khalid University, Dr. Alshehri's educational background has laid a strong foundation for his contributions to AI and data analytics. Dr. Alshehri's involvement in projects like AI-driven crowd management solutions and creating a social media analysis tool demonstrates his dedication to using technology to benefit society. He played a crucial role in approving the unified national classification of crimes by the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia, reflecting his impact on data and AI initiatives.

He led the AI-Driven Exploration of Sports project as the Sports Project Team Lead for KACST and MIT. This initiative aimed to measure the impact of sports on public health through comprehensive studies and social media analysis. Under his leadership, the team evaluated emerging sports technologies and their influence on participation, significantly promoting healthier lifestyles. A believer in lifelong learning, Dr. Alshehri has enriched his expertise through various training programs on leadership, business intelligence, digital transformation, and negotiation skills offered by notable institutions such as Google, the University of Michigan, the University of Virginia, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Dr. Alshehri also has a keen interest in the ethics and governance of AI in different areas. He promotes responsible AI development and deployment, emphasizing ethical practices and governance that safeguard and improve human well-being.
