Biography

Afaf Ali Amin has more than 50 years of experience in the fields of food safety and microbiology. She has been a professor and consultant in many public, private and non-governmental organizations. In the past 30 years, she has been a Fellow then Assistant Professor in Egypt in the National Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, department of Salmonella - Shigella Center; in the National Diabetic Institute and of Microbiology and Food; and in the National Nutrition Institute (NNI) - Food Safety Department. Professor Amin has experience training observers, inspectors and food analysts in the Ministry of Health, and completing a WHO fellowship training in food risk analysis. She has been an assessor of food safety at Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC); consultant of Middle East and North African Nutrition Association (MENANA); consultant of Scientific Bulletin of NNI; and supervisor of many of MSc and PhD students in the area of food safety and microbiology. During the past seven years, Professor Amin has been a visiting consultant of food safety in Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357(CCHE). She received her PhD and MSc in Microbiology from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt.
