Amanuel Abajobir
Biography
Dr Amanuel Abajobir, Ph.D., is a distinguished public health researcher and practitioner with expertise in reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH), adolescent health, maternal mental health, and health systems. Currently serving as a Research Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), he has led impactful studies, including a multicounty maternal and newborn health initiative under Countdown 2030.
Abajobir’s work, supported by esteemed funders like EDCTP, CIFF, and Wellcome Trust, has informed policies and strengthened healthcare systems in low-resource settings. With over 120 peer-reviewed publications and recognition as a top 2% global scientist by Stanford University and Elsevier, he has received awards like the EDCTP Career Development Fellowship and the Young Public Health Researcher Medal.
As a WHO MNCAH+N advisory member and an African Academy of Sciences Affiliate, he combines research, mentorship, and advocacy to enhance health outcomes and advance global RMNCH priorities.
