Dr Amir Khan
Biography
Amir Khan is a leading public health professional with diverse experience in research, strategic planning, programme development, as well as implementation and management of projects/interventions. Many of his research work has already been published in peer reviewed journals including Lancet, Health Policy and Planning, IUATLD Journal, and Social Science Medicine. His development experience includes: national and provincial level strategic planning, project formulation, development of interventions, systems and guidelines, as well as development of training materials for managers, care providers and communities.
His management and governance experiences include: multi-country consortiums with international universities; collaborative projects with national disease control programmes, and membership of multiple national and global bodies such as member of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (Vice chair), member IUATLD Executive Board (including Secretary General and Vice President), DAT Task Force, etc. His other relevant experiences include: community forums e.g., WHO Civil Society Task Force, Stop TB Partnership Pakistan; and WHO guideline development groups e.g., MDR-TB, TB screening, childhood TB etc. His international recognition includes Princess Chichibu TB Award (individual); Karel Styblo Prize (organization).
