Biography

Andreea Badache earned her bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania. She holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Sciences from KU Leuven, Belgium and a master’s degree in Healthcare policy, Innovation and Management from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Supported by a Marie-Curie grant she conducted doctoral research in Disability Sciences focusing on Ageing, Disability and Epidemiology at Örebro University, Sweden, where she served as a researcher for 5 years.

Andreea has been affiliated with the Swedish National Graduate School for Competitive Science on Ageing and Health (SWEAH) at Lund University and the Swedish National institute of Disability Research. She’s been an active member of several European Cooperation in Science and Technology Actions (COST), including the European Burden of Diseases, PhysAgeNet, and Novel Tools for Test Evaluation and Disease Prevalence Estimation. Additionally, she was a visiting researcher at Tokyo University, Japan. Her global collaborations have led to scientific publications and involvement in numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Before her PhD, she has gained clinical experience in Romania and Belgium. and has worked with national NGOs, international organizations such as PAHO/WHO in the USA, the European Commission-JRC in Italy, and the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico.

Currently, as a consultant in the Ageing and Health unit, Andreea is responsible for generating global estimates concerning underweight, overweight and obesity in older people and leads a systematic review and meta-analysis on the same topic.
