Dr Corine Ngufor
Biography
Dr Corine Ngufor is an Associate Professor of medical entomology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) with extensive experience in conducting and leading cutting-edge research and innovation in malaria control and a focus on developing and evaluating new effective vector control tools. She obtained her MSc in public health entomology and PhD in infectious diseases both from LSHTM. She is also a lead scientist and research director of a GLP-certified research facility based in the Centre de Recherche Entomologique de Cotonou (CREC), Ministry of Health, Benin, where she leads a large research team and collaborates with various stakeholders, including WHO, USAID, the Global Fund, PMI, PATH, BMGF, IVCC and chemical companies. She has secured and delivered multiple research grants and projects that have contributed to the development and deployment of a new generation of vector control tools and other novel malaria control interventions.
Dr Ngufor is a member of the WHO Malaria Policy Advisory Group and current Co-Chair of the Vector Control Working Group (VCWG) of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria where she supports the identification and implementation of best practices in vector control globally. In 2021, she received the Greenwood African Award in recognition of her contribution and future potential in fighting infectious diseases. She is passionate about developing research capacity in Africa, training and mentoring young research scientists, and supporting the careers of African women scientists.
Dr Ngufor is a member of the Vector Control Advisory Group since 2023.
