Dr Dafrossa Cyrily Lyimo
Biography
Dr Dafrossa Lyimo is a consultant in the areas of immunization, public health, health systems strengthening, leadership and programme management, Tanzania. She was previously the National Immunization and Vaccine Development (IVD) Programme Manager in Tanzania for 11 years. Under her leadership, six new vaccines were introduced into routine immunization services in Tanzania (pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV 13), rota vaccine, measles second dose, measles/rubella, inactivated polio vaccine and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
Her areas of expertise include immunization service delivery, programmatic issues in the introduction of new vaccine, public health, health systems strengthening, leadership and programme management, monitoring and evaluation of health programs, capability building and advocacy for digital health initiatives.
Dr Dafrossa has a Doctor of Medicine and a master’s degree in Hospital Management from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, with various diplomas and certificates on public health disciplines from various universities.
Dr Dafrossa has served as a member of the GAVI Independent Review Committee (IRC), the WHO Advisory Committee on Immunization and Vaccines-related Implementation Research (IVIR-AC), the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization working group on Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Typhoid Vaccines, and the Equity Reference Group for Immunization (ERG).
