Dr Faysal El Kak
Biography
Dr Faysal El Kak, M.D. Obstetrics Gynecology Sexual Health, is a founder and director of Women Integrated Sexual Health (WISH) Program, Department of OBGYN, the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC).
Faysal is a regionally and internationally reputed expert and scholar leading research and training on maternal mortality/morbidity, including Global Sepsis study- WHO, maternal and SRHR in complex emergencies, youth SRHR, GBV, and refugees, supported by WHO, UNFPA, IDRC, EU, and OXFAM, with over 60 publications. As VP FIGO, he contributed to the development of the Education Communication and Advocacy Consortium (ECAC) on research and training related to more than 130 national member societies.
Faysal is the coordinator of the National Committee on Safe Motherhood, Lebanon, and has contributed to the development of confidential inquiries since 2010 that helped meet MDG5 and SDGs2030 targets. Awarded the Shield of Honor by the Ministry of Public Health. Faysal is a member of the Global Advisory Committee on Maternal and Perinatal Death- WHO, chairs the Arab Woman Health Group- Federation of Arab GYNOB Societies, National Technical Committee on Corona and Pregnancy, Lebanon, Middle East Sexual Health Committee of the World Association of Sexual Health (WAS), editor of Maternal Mortality reports and Service Delivery Guidelines.
