Biography
Dr Jakir Hossain Bhuiyan Masud is the Chairman of the Public Health Informatics Foundation (PHIF). He has been working as an academician, researcher and consultant in the field of Public Health and Digital Health since 2005. He has been serving as Digital Health Roster of Experts since September 2019 and Snakebite Envenoming Roster of Experts since February 2021 in the World Health Organization (WHO). He has been serving as a Member of Technical Advisory Group for Measurement, Monitoring and Evaluation of the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing and Malaria Strategic Information at World Health Organization (WHO). He worked as Visiting Professor in King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 2015. He worked with WHO as a Consultant and seconded to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW), Bangladesh.
He also served as a National Consultant in UNICEF. He has been a specialist of Digital Health and Public Health for more than 17 years. He focuses on eHealth, mHealth, maternal and child health, elderly health, NCDs, Infectious disease, operational research, tobacco control, health informatics, electronic health record (EHR), telemedicine, clinical decision support system, standard, interoperability, data science and artificial intelligence (AI). He holds a medical degree and a Master’s in Health Economics from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also earned a Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology from State University of Bangladesh and did another Master degree in Biomedical and Health Informatics from Mahidol University, Thailand. He also holds PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Taipei Medical University.
He is an advisory board member, editorial board member and a reviewer of different journal and conference. He served as a Working Group (WG) Member- Health Informatics for Development (HI4D) in the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). He serves as a Jury board member of ITU Digital World 2021 SME Awards in The International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
