Dr Jenny Stephens

Dr Jenny Stephens is a dentist by profession serving the Vanuatu Government for over 20 years. Upon completing her postgraduate studies of Masters in Dental Public Health & Primary Health Care and Postgraduate Diploma in International Public Health, she then joined the Public Health Department in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic in November 2021, she was appointed Acting Director of Public Health where she was at the forefront of COVID-19 pandemic under the Public Health Emergency Declaration in Vanuatu. Covid 19 awareness, vaccination roll-out, repatriations, community transmission and ensuring that the country has a preparedness and response plan in place towards opening borders are high on her agenda for the health security of the population of Vanuatu.

Towards the end of 2022 she was appointed as Director proper for Public Health. In her role as Director of Public Health, she manages about fourteen public health units at national and six provincial health. She is responsible for coordinating and providing executive level management to ensure that health services are delivered with quality. and managing financial and human resources relating to public health with other health directors.
