Dr Karen Quillen

Biography

Dr. Quillen is a hematologist at Atrius Health in Boston, and Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Her expertise spans transfusion medicine, and stem cell transplantation in plasma cell dyscrasia (myeloma and AL amyloidosis). She served two terms on the United States Health & Human Services Advisory Committee on Blood and Tissue Safety and Availability. She was a member of the inaugural Massachusetts Department of Public Health Hemovigilance Technical Advisory Group, which pioneered a first-in-nation hemovigilance tracking and benchmarking system from mandatory reports submitted to the state. She is the author of 80 peer-reviewed  publications, 20 reviews/book chapters, and a case-based primer in transfusion medicine.
