Biography

Margo Wootan leads MXG Strategies, a strategic consulting firm that supports the work and mission of organizations through project and policy development and strategy; nutrition science; coalitions, partnership, and grassroots mobilization; corporate relations; communications (strategy, press, digital, messaging); and fundraising. Dr. Wootan is adjunct faculty at American University in the Department of Health Studies.  She received her B.S. in nutrition from Cornell University and her doctorate from Harvard University’s School of Public Health.

Wootan led the successful effort to require trans fat labeling on packaged foods, which significantly contributed to the removal of trans fat from the U.S. food supply. She coordinated work in the United States to improve school food, require calorie labeling at fast-food and other chain restaurants, improve restaurant children’s meals, reduce unhealthy food marketing aimed at children, and expand nutrition and physical activity programs at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She has been quoted extensively by news media and appeared in the movies Super Size Me and Fed Up.
