Biography

Dr Marguerite Massinga Loembé holds a PhD in Microbiology from Laval University, Canada. Based in Libreville, Gabon, she has 20+ years of expertise in clinical research and in providing technical assistance to high-disease-burden countries across Africa, striving to improve the surveillance and detection of diseases of public health concern (TB, HIV, emerging and re-emerging diseases) and to build resilient and sustainable laboratory systems.

As Senior Laboratory Advisor with the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention between 2019 and 2022, she supported the COVID-19 response and testing capacity scale-up across the continent. She particularly aims at fostering better linkages between researchers, policymakers, and national health authorities to accelerate the uptake of new diagnostic tools and approaches in LMICs.

She is the Chair of the Stop TB Partnership Global Laboratory Initiative (GLI) Working Group and serves as Focal Point for Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) with the Global Fund Technical Review Panel (TRP).
