Dr Mikiko Kanda

Dr Mikiko Kanda is Technical Lead for the Healthy Ageing Unit in the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WHO WPRO). Working with internal and external stakeholders, she leads technical support and advocacy to advance health and social system transformation across Member States in the WHO Western Pacific Region, responding to the opportunities and challenges of population ageing.

Before WHO WPRO, she worked for UNAIDS Country Office for Myanmar and the WHO Regional Office for Southeast Asia in various technical capacities related to Strategic Information on HIV/AIDS, Health Systems research, Human Resources for Health and Healthy Ageing. Dr. Kanda is a Registered Nurse in Japan and the US, and holds PhD and Masters degrees in Health Science (Global Health Policy) from the University of Tokyo.
