Dr Naoko Ishikawa

Naoko Ishikawa is a family physician based in Kanagawa, Japan, providing primary care as well as sexual and reproductive health services in sexually transmitted infection and obstetrics and gynaecology settings. Her work focuses on the prevention, control, and elimination of communicable diseases, particularly HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and viral hepatitis. 

She has extensive experience supporting public health programmes in low- and middle-income countries and has worked across clinical, policy, and global health settings. From 2014 to 2021, she served as Medical Officer and Coordinator for HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and viral hepatitis at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, where she led regional efforts to strengthen prevention, testing, treatment, and programme implementation. Her interests include integrated service delivery and expanding access to person-centred sexual and reproductive health-care.
