Dr Nima Asgari

Dr Nima Asgari is the Director of the Asia Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies (APO), working with governments and academic institutions to advance health policy and systems research (HPSR) across South-East Asia and the Western Pacific.

A public health physician with over 25 years of field experience in low-, middle- and high-income countries, Dr Asgari has been with WHO since 2006. He has held roles at WHO headquarters in Geneva, the Regional Office for South-East Asia in New Delhi, and WHO Country Offices in Cambodia, China, and Thailand.

Dr Asgari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Parasitology and a medical degree from the University of Edinburgh, a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health in the United Kingdom.
