Dr R. B. N. Prasad
Biography
Dr R B N Prasad was the former Chief Scientist and Head of Centre for Lipid Research at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad, India. He is a distinguished Lipid Scientist and has over 45 years of research experience. Dr Prasad has contributed significantly for the Indian Mission on trans-fat reduction in the food sector. He has to his credit over 275 original research papers in reputed scientific journals, twenty-two book chapters and about seventy Indian and international patents in addition to transfer of technologies to several oils and fats and allied product industries. Dr Prasad was the Chairperson of Scientific Panel on Oils & Fats, Member of Scientific Committee and Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavorings & Processing Aids of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). He has been part of several expert committees of the Government of India such as CSIR, BIRAC, DBT, and FSSAI. He was the National President of Oil Technologists' Association of India and Association of Food Scientist & Technologists (India). Dr Prasad is Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), Biotech Research Society of India, Indian Society of Oilseed Research etc. He is presently Associate Editor of Journal of Food Science & Technology (Springer).
