Biography

Dr Sanjit Kanjilal, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad (India), has done his doctoral research in the area of lipids and derivatives. He has more than 25 years of research experience working in the area of lipids, especially isolation, synthesis and characterization of lipids and oleochemicals derived from oils and fats. Apart from that, he has worked extensively on value addition to the by-product of edible oil Industry, surfactant, nutraceuticals and also in the development of GC/HPLC based method for checking adulteration of edible oil. He has been associated with Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI), the food regulatory body of India and served as Member of the Scientific Panel of Oils and Fats of FSSAI during 2017-2022.

Presently, He is a member of Scientific Panel of Methods of Sampling and Analysis of FSSAI (2023-2026). He also served as Expert Member of WHO while reviewing the WHO Global Protocol for the Estimation of Trans Fat and contributed immensely for the simplification of WHO global protocol for ease of adoption by Member States. He has published 66 research papers, 5 patents, 2 book chapters and supervised the doctoral research of 8 research scholars.
