Dr Seema Yasmin
Biography
Dr Yasmin is an Emmy award-winning science journalist, medical doctor, epidemiologist and author. She served as an officer in the U.S. government Epidemic Intelligence Service where she investigated epidemics in maximum-security prisons, American Indian nations and border towns. Yasmin studies information inequity as a social determinant of health and is building an information ecosystem map of the U.S. to assess vulnerability to the spread of health and science misinformation and disinformation. The author of five books, Yasmin reporting appears in The New York Times, Scientific American, WIRED, and other outlets. She is a medical analyst for CNN and in 2017 was a finalist for the Pulitzer prize in breaking news reporting with her team from The Dallas Morning News. Yasmin trained in journalism at the University of Toronto and in medicine at the University of Cambridge.
