Biography

Sinead Delany-Moretlwe is Director of Research at Wits RHI and Professor of Global Health and Infectious Diseases in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She is also an Honorary Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Cape Town. 

A medical doctor with training in infectious diseases and epidemiology, her research focuses on the intersection of sexual and reproductive health and infectious diseases. She has led and contributed to clinical trials of HIV prevention technologies and conducts research on cervical cancer prevention through screening and vaccination, as well as the development of new diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines for sexually transmitted infections. 

She serves on several national and international advisory groups on HIV and sexually transmitted infections and is co-Principal Investigator of the HIV Prevention Trials Network.
