Prof Wing Hong Seto

Professor W.H. Seto played a pivotal role in establishing infection prevention and control in China, Hong Kong SAR, and started the local training course for IPC practitioners in 1985. He has extensively contributed to IPC education and is the founding president of the Asia Pacific Society of IPC. Currently, Professor Seto serves as the co-director and clinical professor of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Control at the University of Hong Kong. He is also the advisory consultant for the Hong Kong University Shenzhen Hospital in China and a visiting professor at the University of New South Wales. Professor Seto previously chaired and remains a member of the IPC Scientific Committee of the Centre for Health Protection in the government of China, Hong Kong SAR. His contributions to academia are widely recognized, with honorary professorships from institutions such as the Military Medical College, the 2nd Medical University in Shanghai, and the West China School of Clinical Medicine. Professor Seto is a member of the acclaimed F1000 Prime Faculty, an open research publisher, and has been instrumental in developing the WHO guidelines for infection prevention and control of epidemic- and pandemic-prone acute respiratory diseases in health care, contributing to both the 2007 interim guidelines and the 2014 update.
