Dr Xiaojun Wang
Biography
Dr Xiaojun Wang is Acting Coordinator for the Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health team at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific.
Dr Wang, a Chinese national, is a senior public health professional with over 30 years of experience across government and international health agencies. She brings a comprehensive perspective on health systems, having worked at multiple levels and across diverse programmatic areas—from field operations to regional policy development.
Dr Wang has served as a team lead or coordinator in a range of technical and management roles within the Chinese government, and with WHO and UNICEF across country, subregional, and regional levels. Her work has spanned diverse country contexts throughout Asia and the Pacific. While her technical foundation is in vaccine-preventable diseases and immunization, her core strength lies in advancing equitable health services and "closing the last mile" in the journey toward universal health coverage.
