Dr Ekhlas Hailat
Biography
Dr Ekhlas Hailat is a dedicated public health, One Health and zoonotic diseases specialist, she holds a master's in veterinary medicine from Jordan University Science and Technology (JUST), with 22 years of experience in detecting, preventing, and responding to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases at national, regional, and international levels.
She worked with EMPHNET (2015 - 2023) as a task owner and implementor for several projects related to One Health, infectious and zoonotic diseases, biosafety and biosecurity, laboratory-based surveillance in EMR and beyond. She worked at Jordan MOA (2003 - 2015) as the Head of Animal Health and Epidemiology Division, a focal point for WOAH responsible for outbreak notifications and reporting using WAHIS, a consultant with FAO, and supported PVS missions in Jordan, a member of different committees such as GDG, Traditional Food Markets, JEE Roster of Experts, and one of the reviewers for the Tripartite One Health Field Epidemiology Competency Framework.
She presented her work at national, regional and international conferences as a keynote speaker, presenter, panelist and facilitator. Currently, she is a consultant for the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and Georgetown University’s Center for Global Health Science and Security for the project titled Evaluating and Enhancing One Health Capacities through Multisectoral Engagement in Iraq and Jordan.
