Biography

Professor Elizabeth Miller is an infectious disease epidemiologist who has worked on vaccines and immunization programmes for over 40 years. She was the former Head of Immunisation at Public Health England and is now a professor in Infectious disease Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and a visiting professor at the Sackler School of Public Health at Tel Aviv University. She has considerable experience in evaluating vaccine safety and effectiveness and served as a member of the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization and was a founder member of the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS).  She is currently helping PHE with their COVID-19 response by leading a study of the effect of COVID-19 vaccination on household transmission of SARS-CoV-2 infection. She is also working for the WHO in assessing COVID vaccines that are candidates for inclusion in WHO’s efficacy trials (SOLIDARITY) that being conducted in low- and middle-income countries.
