Enrico Ferro
Biography
Dr Enrico Ferro is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School, also holds degrees in Molecular & Cellular Biology from Yale University (summa cum laude), and a medical license in Italy.
Dr Ferro has extensive experience with cardiovascular devices through clinical care and research at the Smith Center for Outcomes Research, where he uses clinical trial and insurance claims data to assess novel technologies. He has authored over 40 publications in journals such as JAMA, JACC, and Circulation.
He has served as a Medical Officer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, evaluating cardiovascular devices from pre-market review to post-market surveillance. Dr Ferro also has conducted research and fieldwork to improve treatment outcomes in low- and middle-income countries including Peru, Malaysia, India, and South Africa—where he helped quantify the burden of hypertensive heart disease.
Dr Ferro contributed to the WHO List of Priority Medical Devices for Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes (2021), the WHO Technical Specifications for Pre-Market Assessment of Blood Pressure Measuring Devices (2023), and was the lead author of the World Heart Federation Roadmap on Single Pill Combination Therapies for cardiovascular disease (2025).
