Biography

Dr Eszter Vamos is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the School of Public Health at Imperial College London and an Honorary Clinical Consultant in Public Health at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She also serves as Deputy Director of the Public Health Policy Evaluation Unit at Imperial College.

She leads internationally recognised research focused on understanding key drivers of noncommunicable diseases and related health inequalities, using health impact modelling, natural experiments, and epidemiological methods. Her work centres on the prevention and management of long-term conditions, particularly type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, and the evaluation of policies related to dietary patterns, commercial determinants of health, and drivers of health inequalities. She has published several large, influential prospective cohort studies linking ultra-processed food consumption to increased risks of obesity, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and premature mortality. This research has strengthened the evidence base on associations between diets high in ultra-processed foods and adverse health outcomes in children and adults. It has been featured in international media and cited in policy discussions in the UK and globally.

She has held two prestigious European Commission Marie Curie Fellowships and an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and is a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Public Health.
