Filippa Lentzos
Biography
Dr Filippa Lentzos is Reader (Associate Professor) in Science & International Security at King’s College London, where she is jointly appointed in the Department of War Studies and the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine. She is from Norway.
A biologist and social scientist by training, Dr Lentzos critically examines biological threats, health security, biorisk management and biological arms control, and she has written widely on these issues. She leads several research projects, including www.GlobalBioLabs.org, www.BioweaponsDisinformationMonitor.com and TheBulletin.org/pathogens-project.
Dr Lentzos is an Associate Senior Researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in Sweden, and a Non-Resident Scholar at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) in the United States of America. She is as a member of the UK Biosecurity Leadership Council and of the WHO Health Security Interface – Technical Advisory Group (HSI-TAG). She serves as the NGO Coordinator for the Biological Weapons Convention, and she is an advisor and mentor on the Young Women in Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Mentorship Programme.
