Prof François Chappuis
Biography
François Chappuis is professor of humanitarian medicine at the University of Geneva. He currently heads the division of tropical and humanitarian medicine (DTHM) of the Geneva University Hospitals. The DTHM focuses on prevention and care of travellers, including expatriates working abroad for international NGOs, and on development and research projects in several African and Asian countries.
He is a medical doctor specialized in internal medicine and travel & tropical medicine. He holds a master in clinical tropical medicine from the University of Mahidol (Thailand), and a PhD in medical sciences from the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
His teaching and research focus on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), with a particular interest on diagnostic aspects of sleeping sickness, Chagas disease, kala-azar and snakebite.
