Assistant Professor Gabriela Prutsky Lopez
Biography
Gabriela Prutsky Lopez, MD, is an Assistant Professor of
Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic in the United States, where she practices as a
pediatric hospitalist. She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric
Hospital Medicine.
Originally trained as a physician in Peru, Dr. Prutsky Lopez
completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Knowledge and Evaluation
Research (KER) Unit at Mayo Clinic. Her work has supported numerous clinical
practice guidelines and systematic reviews aimed at improving care for patients
with diabetes mellitus and other endocrine disorders.
She is a co-founder of the “Unidad de Conocimiento y Evidencia”
(CONEVID) at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. Her areas of
expertise include shared decision-making, patient engagement, values and
preferences, endocrinology, pediatric chronic conditions, trial methodology and
ethics, and evidence synthesis.
Dr. Prutsky Lopez has also served as a member of the Essential
Medicines List (EML) Committee of the Pan American Health Organization and as
an advisor for the Peruvian Ministry of health.
