Dr Gade Waqa

Gade Waqa is an academic and Public Health Researcher and leads the Pacific Research Centre for the Prevention of Obesity and NCDs (C-POND) at the Fiji Institute of Pacific Health Research, College of Medicine Nursing & Health Sciences of the Fiji National University. Her areas of expertise are Public Health, Obesity Prevention, Community Engagement, and NCD Prevention and Control in the Pacific region. 

Associate Professor Waqa’s contributions to research include 20 years working in school and community settings, demonstrating that multi-strategy interventions can prevent unhealthy weight gain and improve food security for children and vulnerable groups in Fiji and the Pacific.
