George Karagiannis
Biography
George Karagiannis is the director of the Natural Disasters and Crisis Management Research Center at the Academy of Athens (Greece), and the risk and resilience director at the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (UK). He has more than 17 years of experience across the entire emergency management cycle in seven countries in Europe and Asia. He was Greece's deputy secretary-general for civil protection from 2019 to 2022, and technical officer at the European Commission Joint Research Centre from 2016 to 2019. He also was the co-chair of the World Health Organization Technical Advisory Group on Simulation Exercises (2022–2024), the predecessor of SERTAG.
