Mr Giten Khwairakpam

Giten is the Community and Policy Program Manager for amfAR's TREAT Asia program in Bangkok, Thailand. He serves as a member of the World Health Organization's Global Guidelines Development Group on Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for South-East Asia, and the Policy Advisory Group of the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi). He also serves on several Community Advisory Boards focused on diagnostics and equitable access to medicines. 

Previously, he served as a member of the Expert Advisory Group of the Medicines Patent Pool and contributed to several global and regional technical working groups on viral hepatitis, including those convened by WHO's Regional Offices for Western Pacific and South-East Asia. His work has focused on advancing equitable access to HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C diagnosis and treatment globally, with a particular emphasis on South and South-East Asia. He was featured as a Hepatitis C Change Maker by the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2017. 

Giten holds a Master's degree in Social Work, specializing in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India.
