Mr Greg Paoli
Biography
Greg Paoli is the CEO and Principal Risk Scientist at Risk Sciences International, with over 30 years of global experience in risk assessment and management. He holds a B.A.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an M.A.Sc. in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, specializing in complex systems and decision-making under uncertainty. Greg Paoli is recognized internationally for his expertise in public risk, particularly in food safety, environmental health, and chemical hazards. He has advised organizations such as Health Canada and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, contributing to expert panels and committees focused on science-based policy. He played a key role in the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meetings on Microbiological Risk Assessment (JEMRA), contributing to global guidance on managing microbiological hazards in food. In 1997, Greg founded Decisionalysis Risk Consultants, which later merged with Risk Sciences International in 2006. He served as Chair of the Food and Water Risk Assessment Specialty Group of the Society for Risk Analysis and received the SRA and Sigma Xi Distinguished Lectureship Award.
