Gwyther Rees

Biography

Gwyther Rees is a Social and Economic Research Manager at UNICEF Office of Research – Innocenti where he leads research workstreams on child well-being, child poverty and family policy. Gwyther has long-standing experience of research on adolescent mental health and well-being.

From 1995, he initiated and was Research Director for an ongoing research programme (The Children’s Society and University of York) on children’s subjective well-being in the UK. He subsequently (through University of York) was a joint PI and Research Director for the Children’s Worlds study – the largest and most diverse research project on children’s views of their lives and well-being globally.

In 2018, he completed a PhD on longitudinal analysis of adolescent mental health and well-being; and he has published, presented and advised extensively on these topics. He continues to work in this field through his current research at UNICEF.
