Dr Hamad A. Al-Batshan

Biography

 

Dr Al-Batshan is the Deputy Minister for Innovation and Modern Technologies for the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Saudi Arabia and Chair of the 2020 G20 Agriculture Working Group. Previously, he was the Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Animal Production in the College of Food and Agriculture Science at King Saud University. His experience on antimicrobial resistance is related to agriculture and food production systems. In addition to academic research, he has served in the private sector and consulted for agri-food businesses in Saudi Arabia. Dr Al-Batshan is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Saudi Arabia's National Center for Disease Prevention and Control and the National Agricultural Company. 

Dr Al-Batshan brings his background combining education and research with more than 20 years of business experience in food and agriculture to the field of AMR, focused on the impacts of both human and animal health. He holds a Ph.D. in Nutrition from North Carolina State University.
