Biography

Dr Hamdi Mbarek is the Director of Research and Data Analytics at the Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI), Qatar Foundation. He earned his undergraduate degree in Tunisia before completing his PhD in Human Genetics at the University of Évry Val d’Essonne, France. He specializes in population genomics, precision health, and the integration of large-scale genomic, multi-omics, and clinical data to advance precision medicine and public health. He contributes to national and international initiatives aimed at translating genomic discoveries into improved health outcomes. Prior to joining Qatar Foundation, he was an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and conducted postdoctoral research at the Human Genome Center, University of Tokyo. Dr. Mbarek has played leading roles in major international genomics consortia and serves in scientific advisory and editorial roles. His work aims to accelerate the responsible and equitable application of genomics and data-driven science to improve health outcomes worldwide.
