Hao Wang
Biography
Professor Hao Wang is an expert on active medical device testing and standardization at the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control, China. He holds a PhD in biomedical engineering from Boston University, USA and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He spent seven years dedicated to imaging device development and first-in-human clinical trials.
He specializes in quality evaluation of artificial intelligence medical devices, medical robots and innovative active medical devices. He serves as Secretary General of the Technical Unit on Artificial Intelligence Medical Device (AIMD) Standardization, National Medical Products Administration and coordinates the drafting and revision of national and sectoral standards for AIMD in China. He is a national level GMP inspector.
Professor Wang actively contributes to international standardization and regulatory harmonization for AIMD. He is an expert on IEC TC62 AG SNAIG, ISO TC210/JWG1 and IEEE EMB SC. He serves as the convenor of IEC TC62 JWG 12 and leads two IEC standards. He led the IEEE AIMD working group and published two IEEE standards in 2022. He was a member of IMDRF AIMD WG and worked on IMDRF N67. His projects cover important regulatory aspects of AI, including algorithm performance testing, data quality evaluation, post-market surveillance, quality management and terminology. As a STAG-MEDEV member, he will support global harmonization and WHO’s medical device initiatives.
