Huijun Wang
Biography
Professor Huijun Wang is a research scientist and the Director of the Nutrition Surveillance Department at the National Institute of Nutrition and Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Professor Wang is also the Director of the Public Nutrition Academic Committee of the Chinese Nutrition Society.
Her main research interests have focused on nutrition surveys and related methods, the nutrition transition, the prevalence of obesity, diet-related noncommunicable diseases, and double burden of malnutrition in China as well as formulation and promotion of nutrition policies and standards.
From 2004 to 2018, Professor Wang was responsible for the organization and implementation of six waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey, funded by NIH. She has also led and participated in a number of projects, including the NIHR Global Health Research Unit Action on Salt China - Salt Reduction in Pre-Packaged Foods and Restaurants, China national Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and a multilevel systems-oriented obesity study of Chinese children. She has published more than 100 research papers and as chief editor or deputy editor, has published five books, including one on nutrition economics.
Professor Wang won the second prize of Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award in 2022 for her work on the project "Establishment and Application of a Chinese Nutrition surveillance and intervention System".
