Biography

Born in the Netherlands, with an MSc in theoretical biology (science dynamics / women’s studies) a medical degree from the University of Amsterdam, and an MSc in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She began her career as an Associate Professional Officer with the World Health Organization and later joined the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Thematic Expert Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. She did long-term assignments in Jamaica, Zambia, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali, and also with UNAIDS and WHO HQ. For the last 6 years she was based in the Hague until 2022 when she switched to work as an independent consultant.

Her focus is on supporting local actors in international health: policy dialogue, health systems strengthening, aid effectiveness, infectious diseases, child health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, health and SRHR in countries in crisis.
