Doctor Iris Blom

Dr Iris Blom is a medical doctor, climate-health researcher and policy expert. She recently completed her PhD at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine on greenhouse gas mitigation in healthcare systems and its intersection with adaptation, with a focus on Kenya. A Schwarzman Scholar with a master's in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University and a 2026 Falling Walls Female Science Talent, she brings a transdisciplinary lens to climate change and health.

She served as Penholder of the Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health at the WHO Regional Office for Europe, is a Co-Chair of the Working Group on Resilience for the Lancet Commission on Sustainable Healthcare, and a researcher with the Pathfinder Initiative 2.0, contributing to flagship reports, peer-reviewed research and technical briefs on health and climate governance.

Iris is a Founding Member of the WHO Youth Council, and continues to support meaningful youth engagement in global health governance. She has worked on the integration of health and climate across nine World Health Assemblies and COP25–COP30.
