Professor John W. Mellors
Biography
John W. Mellors is Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Chief of Infectious Diseases and the Endowed Chair for Global Elimination of HIV and AIDS at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is also the Executive Director of the HIV Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which provides comprehensive primary care and access to clinical trials for people living with HIV.
John W. Mellors’ laboratory and clinical research focuses on the mechanism of HIV drug resistance, on the use of antiretroviral drugs to prevent HIV-1 infection and on persistent reservoirs of HIV-1 and how to eliminate them. He is an elected member of the Association of American Professors and also serves as the Co-Chair of the WHO HIVResNet and its Steering Group.
