Dr Johnes Obungoloch

Biography

Dr Johnes Obungoloch is a biomedical engineer currently serving as senior lecturer and Dean of the Applied Sciences and Technology Faculty at Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Uganda. He leads an MRI innovations laboratory at Mbarara University and is a founding member of the Consortium for Advancement of MRI Education and Research in Africa (CAMERA). With over ten years of experience on medical devices, he has specialized expertise in medical equipment maintenance, training, and capacity building.

He holds a PhD in biomedical engineering from Pennsylvania State University in the United States, a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Keele University in the United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Makerere University in Uganda.

Passionate about medical technology innovations, particularly for low-resource settings, Dr Obungoloch will contribute as a STAG-MEDEV member to promote a more sustainable use of medical devices globally through capacity development as well as targeted acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and local manufacturing of medical equipment and spare parts.
