Biography

Jonathan Berger is an advocate (barrister) of the High Court of South Africa, and has been a member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates since 2012. He worked for the AIDS Law Project (and its successor SECTION27) from 2002 to 2011, and prior to that clerked for Justice O’Regan at the Constitutional Court of South Africa. He has served as a member of South Africa's Medicines Control Council (2009 to 2011), and as a member of the Expert Advisory Group to the Medicines Patent Pool (2011 to 2019). He holds degrees in law and architecture, including a masters in law from the University of Toronto, which focused on international trade law and access to medicines.
