Ms Judith Chukwuebinim Okolo

Biography

Judith Chukwuebinim Okolo is an Assistant Chief Research Officer in the Biosafety and Risk Management (BRM) unit of National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Abuja. She is from Nigeria. 

Judith Okolo has expertise in biosafety, biosecurity and biorisk management. She is a certified professional of the International Federation of Biological Safety Associations (IFBA), a mentor under the IFBA Mentorship Programme and serves as a member of the IFBA Equity-Focused Coordinating Committee (IFBA-ECC). She is also a fellow of the John Hopkins Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity Initiative (ELBI) and presently a Doctoral Student at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Nigeria. 

Judith specializes in food safety and is passionate about promoting biosafety, biosecurity and food nutrition security, which all links to global health. She has provided programmatic support for international organizations to conduct both virtual and in person-workshops on biorisk management and biosecurity for life science institutions in Nigeria. She has mentored interns, students and medical practitioners on biosafety. She has also authored and co-authored various publications including a handbook on biosafety and biosecurity for students in Nigeria. 

She is a member of Global Health Security Network (GHSN), African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), Nigeria Biological Safety Association (NiBSA), Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Nigeria Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Asia-Pacific Biosafety Association (A-PBA).  

She currently serves as the Country Coordinator of the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA), Nigerian Chapter.
